Me? My name is Bob Zimmerman and I am a retired biology teacher living in Santa Fe, NM. I moved out here from Cincinnati OH in 2008 with my spouse Jerry, a psychologist from Chicago. I am an avid gardener and just finished my Master Gardener training. Working on the landscaping around the house, I became interested in adding one or two bee hives as part of the whole design layout. This will be my account of the process……let’s see how it goes!
Hey Bob,
I must admit, bees took me by surprise. I would have guessed maybe chinchillas would be next.
Honey and eggs—sounds like yummy custard:
5 eggs
3/4 cup honey
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups milk (you may need to get a cow for this part)
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 pinch ground cloves
Beat eggs. Add honey and vanilla extract. Stir to mix in honey, then add milk slowly, stirring to mix. Add nutmeg and pinch of cloves. Pour into ovenproof baking dish or individual custard cups.
Place in pan of water about one-half to three-quarters full. Bake for 45 minutes or until firm to touch. Allow to cool.

Thanks Reggie,
With some luck, I’ll get honey and then I’ll name this dish after you!

Bob,
You’ve become the farmer that was a secret agent in your life all these years. Your love of nature and preserving it is admirable. And, like your eggs has a secondary purpose – cooking and eating. Best of luck with this new adventure. We will be following your progress. And some day trying your honey. Much love Bonnie & Ron.

Greetings from Cincinnati! Good luck with your bees. I work with a friend who has her own hives as well. I’ll pass on your name. Best wishes, Bill (et Steve)

Hey Bob,Larry from cardio here great web site. I,we Christie and I are really interested in 2 hives along. My son Eric is also interested in a hive. I feel that the topbar hive is the way to go since talking to you ,and not the standard box hive as we know them. We my wife and I also need to get into the beekeeping class you spoke about. I will tell my son about the class and tell him about your awesome website.
Thanks Larry and Christie Ulibarri

Hello,
I live in Albuquerque and happened to run across a picture of your chicken coop. After some searching I finally found your blog. I have a couple questions for you about your chicken coop. How can I get ahold of you to exchange email addresses?
